What is a fabulous way to thank an awesome bridesmaid?

My maid of honor was incredible! I thought she would hold a bouquet for me and perhaps throw a shower, but she took being a bridesmaid to a whole new level! She threw parties, went shopping with my mother for a dress, created floral arrangements, made me breakfast on the wedding day, drove me everywhere, went to my dress fittings, anticipated my every need, coordinated details with the other bridesmaids, transported the wedding gifts, the list is so long. I%26#039;d like to thank her in a huge way. Any ideas? I have $100 I could spend. Thank you in advance!

What is a fabulous way to thank an awesome bridesmaid?
Honestly, this was the kind of MOH I was for my best friend, everyone commented on how they had wished that their MOH%26#039;s were more like me. Her husband bought she and beautiful matching rings and wrote a letter that was read at her shower about what he thought our friendship was. It was really beautiful and I was so touched that they had made something that was totally about them about me as well. BUT in all honesty, nothing I recieved gift wise was worth the thank you note that I got from my best friend afterwards. It was heartfelt and genuine and full of such gratitude towards me and my husband as well.

No gift will replace a really nice letter and that will be enough for her. Remember she didnt do all that stuff for a gift at the end, she did it because it was her pleasure to help make your special day awesome.
Reply:thats all you have to spend?

cant do much with that... if it were me i would prob send her on a trip somewhere... maybe get her tix to that concert, or play or show she wanted... something that she would do for you...

seems like what she did is priceless... dont limit yourself on $100. if you can find something free, but more meaningful than money can buy, go for that instead.
Reply:I like the spa certificate idea. I also like givign people keepsake boxes with little trinketts in them.
Reply:Wow...is she for real? Just kidding :) That%26#039;s wonderful! There%26#039;s so much you can do, and not even have to spend money. Throw her a thank-you bbq, play all of her favorite tunes and make her favorite food. Make her a %26quot;friends%26quot; cd of all songs about friendship on it. A personalized engraved picture frame. A day outing for the two of you to a spa, a hiking trip, or a picnic...a girl%26#039;s night with some chick flicks and a pizza (the last one is my answer to pretty much everything-hahaha)...use your imagination, and congrats on the wedding!
Reply:go out and buy her a few small items and put them in a designed basket with a card
Reply:Take some time and find great pictures of the 2 of you together over the years and make a small or not so small scrapbook for her. I made photo albums/mini scrapbooks for all the bridesmaids and groomsmen with just pictures from our wedding weekend and have received tons of comments on them. They all appreciated having the memories and the pictures (some candid) from our special day. Take some from all the years you have been friends and put them in a thank you book. It is has personal meaning, it%26#039;s cost effective and you know that she will love it!
Reply:A spa gift certificate so she can relax

a gift certificate to her favorite store

a jewlery box with her name engraved
Reply:I agree with everyone else.... get that girl a spa gift certificate!!!!
Reply:Maybe a gift certificate to a day at a spa? Massages, pedicures, facials, etc. You two could go together.
Reply:Send her to the spa for a massage or a pedicure or something...she deserves it!

Can you recommend a good perfume?

I know very little about perfumes, especially how to describe how they smell (not sure I%26#039;d know the difference between fruity and floral), but I do like J%26#039;Adore and a body spray from Bath %26amp; Body Works called Japanese Cherry Blossom (both gifts). Can anyone recommend something else I might like?

Can you recommend a good perfume?
The thing with perfume and body sprays is that they smell a little bit different depending on who is wearing them. That being said, I love Bath %26amp; Body Works!! You have to be very careful not to put on too much perfume but with the Bath %26amp; Body Works body spray, you can spray all day long and it will always smell good! They have a new scent called Wild Homeysuckle that I really love. I also really like Night-Blooming Jasmine and Magnolia Blossom. I always get compliments when I wear these scents.

For perfume I use Estee Lauder%26#039;s Sheer Pleasures. It has a nice light scent. Michael Kors also has a scent I like, it%26#039;s called Island. You should be able to buys these at a department store at the mall.
Reply:I am very allergic to perfume and the two that I can use are ghost and ck1. I swear by them.
Reply:Try the green Escada or Salvatore Ferragamo%26#039;s %26quot;Incanto%26quot;. You might like them.
Reply:I have the Japanese Cherry blossom lotion!

I would rly recommend Avons Be Kissable%26#039;

also American Eagle perfume!!

For sure those are rly good ones***

Reply:well, it depends on ur budget...on the high end, i absolutlely love Chanel and Armani! on the lower end, if u like the cherry blossom, try some of the other scents from bath and body. i like moonlit path, plumeria, and honeysuckle. there r tons of them out there, but remember that different frangrances smell different on other people. ur body chemistry can change the way a perfume smells. just get some samples and try them out!

Reply:I love %26quot;Sparkle%26quot; by Rue 21...it is so nice :0)
Reply:no, because everyone has different taste. go to sephora and test them! you should test them on yourself to see what you like, it%26#039;s free, make use smell good and at sephora they give you free samples if you ask for the particular perfume you want.
Reply:sounds u like prefer floral/warm and light orientals. Try Miss Dior Cherie, Jlo glo, CK night, ralph lauren glamor, Victorias Secret desire angel.
Reply:Vera Wang Princess. Its floral and has hints of vanilla.
Reply:I love Givenchy Amarige and whenever I put it on, everyone seems to love it too. You can check the source for more information and review.
Reply:MISS CHERIE BY DIOR. :)
Reply:Try Hillary Duff%26#039;s %26quot;with love%26quot;. Its woody like the Japanese Blossom and floral like J%26#039;Adore.

If not try NYC by Mary kate and Ashley sold @ target.

But do try the with love one first.

They have wonderful gift ideas for every occasion. The choice is big – e.g. oil, pencil, charcoal or canvas portraits. They are also fairly priced, and you can instruct them to send the portrait directly to the person you want!

The same company also has a studio for oil paintings reproductions. If you are looking for an affordable gift urgently, you can take a look at their %26#039;stock on sale%26#039;. Visit http://www.oil-paintings-reproductions.c...

I and my wife stayed so far away, it seemed like an eternity to travel.

And we infact did innovative things to make sure occasions remained special.

You can%26#039;t go wrong if you decide to send flowers but if it ends up in the wrong hands, then you are in mortal peril, and so is she.

I am a Keralite myself and can fairly safely tell you how folks in kerala would react, so I would ask you not to send musical cards. It would make your lady look like a complete clown.

I would suggest you buy something that you remember she likes, then repack it securely and courier it, to her so that she knows it is from you. Because mostly the elder of the house receives the Courier and if it is addressed from you to her, then she will be able to accept it..

TIP: Buy something that she will cherish as a keepsake or can use for a very long time.

You can also send her a Gift Coupon for a Shopping mall in Kerala...

Always bear in mind that local sensitivities when choosing a gift. Keralites are reknown to be finicky
Reply:Hi,

You can send flowers and cards to her by professional couriers, because they have good network in kerala including rural and urban areas. Now I check their website for you but the website is not working properly now.

this is the link : www.tpckurla.com/mumbai.htm

good luck.
Reply:Glad to hear that you like a Keralite girl. You are most welcome, I am being a Keralite.

You can send her some interesting books, cheaper or costly, according to your interest and financial condition. Everybody likes good books to read, especially we, keralites. You may enclose some dry flowers in memory of your everlasting love towards her.

She is not a greedy type, so it will hurt her if you send some other costly gifts, like high quality garments or ornaments.

May your love long live.
Reply:all girls like jewellery. you can gift her something like a pearl necklace. pearls arent too expensive unless they%26#039;re seawater pearls.

What grabs your attention when ordering flowers, color, design, what?

Ive ask that question because I am a florist and this shop has experience growth this past year.

We want to stand out in the floral industry. We offer already other free services that other shops dont offer. Such as pictures of their arrangement or gifts sent to their emails , so they can enjoy the gifts as well. This has really made a difference with our customers. Some of our customers have said they stop ordering online because they were recieving products that just wasnt what they ordered.

What grabs your attention when ordering flowers, color, design, what?
My main thing when ordering flowers is the color selection. I like deep, rich colors like pumpkin orange, chocolate brown, blood red, etc. Like fall colors, mostly.
Reply:i look for something more interesting than just flowers. a decorative vase that can be used again. maybe river rocks and twigs that can be saved after the flowers die. beautiful ribbons and bows. oh--and i hate those generic business card size greetings that come on the arangement. people will spend $50 for a nice arangement, and then they cheap out on the card! i wish there were classier choices in this area.

i really enjoy progressive, trendy looks, almost a japanese style, a feeling or emotion should be conveyed through flower arangements.

How to arrange flowers in a gift box?

i wish to buy fresh flowers and arrange them into a gift box ( with cover ). what are the materials needed?

do i use floral foam as the base?

anywhere i can find a guide on this?

How to arrange flowers in a gift box?
Will the flowers be standing upright or lying down?

If you want to arrange them in an upright position, you will need floral foam and you may want to buy some floral wire, especially if you have flowers that tend to droop like gerbera daisies or tulips. The floral foam should be soaked in water and placed in a water proof base.

If you want to lie the flowers down around something, you can buy special test tubes with caps for each flower. These are then filled with water. Your best bet? Go to any flower shop and throw yourself on their mercy. They%26#039;ll have everything you need to make your gift box memorable.

The supplies you need aren%26#039;t expensive and can even be purchased at craft stores. Just be sure you get the right kind of foam for fresh flowers. Don%26#039;t confuse floral foam with the green styrofoam they use for silk or dried flower arrangements!

Good luck!

How can I find my mothers China Pattern from 1965? It's called MEISSEN JADE by WINTERLING/BAVARIA . Thank U!

She received it as a wedding gift in 1965. It%26#039;s green floral. So far I was able to find the pattern on replacements.com however they do not have any of the pieces that she needs. Here is the link that has a picture attached. And I tried Ebay as well, however since I am new to Ebay I had no luck at all. Perhaps it is an usual pattern? Take a look at the picture at the link below and any help that I receive will be greatly appreciated!!!! http://www.replacements.com/webquote/WIG...

How can I find my mothers China Pattern from 1965? It%26#039;s called MEISSEN JADE by WINTERLING/BAVARIA . Thank U!
Here is an article about using replacement china websites and using registration services to help locate pieces you need. It is an excellent place to start and has many informative links to help you get started.

Registering your china sounds like a good way to start so you can be notified when the item you are looking for is available.

Good luck! It may be a long term project, but in the end, I think you mother will be very happy!
Reply:First off, you can buy it from replacements.com.

Do a search on the internet by typing in Meissen Jade,Winterling. Try Froogle. These give you antique collectors/stores that have the pattern.

Old China patterns are hit and miss.

Realize that replacing china patterns are not cheap.

Try Freecycle.com in your areas as %26quot;Wanted Item%26quot;.

Local Thrift and Goodwill. (hit or miss)

Fleamarkets.

Try Blujay.com as a wanted item (or in search of).

Good luck. Happy Hunting.

Getting Married in 4.5 weeks..?
Never underestimate the importance of lists. Here%26#039;s a short little list of lists you should have ready for the big day:

1. Schedule of events just to have an idea of if you%26#039;re staying on track all day (hair/makeup appointments, pictures, pre-ceremony rituals, cocktail hour, reception, cake-cutting, etc)

2. List of pictures you want photographer to be sure to get (groups of people, special moments, etc.).

3. List of songs for band/DJ (and a list they should NOT play!)

-Also, you may want to get envelopes %26amp; $ for tips for all your vendors ready so you can hand them to them discreetly the day of. Also make sure there aren%26#039;t any outstanding balances with any of those vendors (some need to be paid in full before the wedding).

Good luck, and congratulations!!
Reply:Have you confirmed that someone is handling the bachelor party / bridal shower party . . .

I need to decorate a wire basket, what unique ideas can I use?

I need to decorate a wire basket. My company is having a fundraiser for an employee who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. To participate in the fundraiser you could purchase a basket for $5 then it was up to you to decorate it, transform it, anything goes. There will be a silent auction of the baskets and they%26#039;ll be judged. I want to do something unique, but can%26#039;t think of a thing. I was hoping for ideas other than a gift basket or floral arrangement. I can paint it, cut it, hang things off of it, anything, but my mind draws a blank. My basket is around the size of a hanging basket most often used for flowers. Can anyone help me?

I need to decorate a wire basket, what unique ideas can I use?
Fabric strips! My daughter%26#039;s art class did this with plastic baskets. They took patterned fabric and cut it into strips about 1%26quot; x 3%26quot;. They tied the strips around each section of the plastic mesh, making the outside of the basket %26#039;fuzzy%26#039; or %26#039;fluffy%26#039;. (Tie several strips to each section) One child added thick yarn, like we used to wear for hair-bows, randomly through her pattern.

Count on lots of people weaving strips of fabric in and out, so this texture would be more unique.

A cute idea would be to make it shades of pink, and fill it with pink cosmetic items (nail polish, emery boards, lotion, etc.)

Second idea:

Use pink and/or purple tulle (nylon net) for the fabric strips, especially if you can find sparkly stuff. Fill the basket with fairy-princess items (tiara, hair things, sparkly play makeup) for a little girl.
Reply:go to your local craft store and just browse around, look for things you could use and even if you dont get anything it should give you some good ideas
Reply:What I would do is line it with a mossy/staw type material , have pieces poking out in random spots. Attach one or two of those realistic looking birds used for crafts and hot glue them to the top edge. Add a chain link (a thin one) to three spots and make it a hanging basket...add one or two artificial butterflies or bees onto the chain. Get a hook for the top , tie a raffia bow around the bottom of the hook , just for looks. I think it would come out cute...like a birds nest plant hanger...or you can even just use it outdoors as a decorative storage piece , throw your extra packets of seeds , or keep matches for the grill in it , gardening gloves...I know you are not planning on using it , but I think it would be nice to have a story behind your creation if anyone asks what it is used for. Good Luck %26amp; Have Fun!
Reply:I have one on my coffee table. I placed potpourri in it and placed a large jar candle in the middle and used as a center piece

What are your thoughts on a cyber-coffee shop with $6. a month membership fee?

I am in the process of opening a %26#039;cyber-coffee shop%26#039; and need an informal survey on the idea of a coffee shop with internet stations, wi-fi access, for a membership fee of $6 a month. There will be many different kinds of coffee, cappucino, espresso, herbal teas, and pastries. There will also be an in house selection of books and local news papers available. A selection of home made candles, professional silk floral arrangements, and novelty gifts for sale as well.

What are you thoughts? Would you frequent a real live %26quot;Central Perk%26quot; type place in your area?

What are your thoughts on a cyber-coffee shop with $6. a month membership fee?
Ehhh... I%26#039;m a cheap ***, so probably not honestly. :) But don%26#039;t let me stop ya!
Reply:if you make the internet access free as part of the membership benfits, why yes! you%26#039;d also have to make quiet environments for people to work peacfully without all the noise that is so common in most cybercafes.
Reply:if 6 buck is for the access, you%26#039;ll go broke inside of 1 month
Reply:So if I spend 4 hrs. a day for a month in this %26quot;Central Perk%26quot; it only cost me $6.00?
Reply:What does the membership include? . . . Internet access? Is coffee gonna be five bucks like at %26quot;Fivebucks%26quot;? (Oh, Starbucks, whoops)
Reply:Six bucks a month is cheap, especially if you are talking broadband. Sounds like it will be %26#039;the spot%26#039;. Good Luck!

Hope it goes extremely well for you.

PS not everywhere with WiFi is free..... some places charge by the hour and give you a security key.

Consignment Booth?

I am considering opening a consignment booth at a local shop in my very small town. It is inside an old grocery store. The lady who runs it sells artificial floral arrangements and gifts and has booths set up around the perimeter. She wants $40/month plus 10% of sales for a 12%26#039; x 10%26#039; area. Sounds reasonable to me? Anyone ever done this or do this? How well did you do. I will sell mostly new womens and mens clothing and accessories.

Consignment Booth?
Sounds pretty reasonable to me. Just don%26#039;t lock yourself into a long term contract.

If you do real well, you can negotiate the 10% in the future as it may seem way too high!

Some questions to ask her (or yourself):

How will she require your sales reporting? Actual %26quot;z%26quot; tape (report from cash register) or will you just submit a form with totals?

Does she advertise?

Will you be required to be there all hours the store is open? Can you secure your items if you are not there?

If you can%26#039;t secure items, who would ring up sales if your items are left in the open?

How much traffic does she get?

Can you advertise? (check your lease agreement)

From your question I take it that this will be a pretty informal contract, so your biggest problems will be your inventory security (from experience, you are more likely to have stock stolen from other vendors than from actual shoplifters).

Good luck!

Coffe house?

I am trying to come up with a name for my coffee bar, floral and gift store. Also have a tanning bed. It is not open yet and I am doing the corp. papers and still have not come up with a name.

Something fun and whimsical. but not to girly.

Coffe house?
We might be able to give you better ideas if you provided more details, like general location or what theme you envision.

For example:

If the place is in Hawaii: Lava Java

If you wanted a playful rebel theme: Mug Shots

Playing off white/blue collar workers: The Bean Counter

Think in terms of plays on the words: coffee, beans, java, shots, latte, espresso, mocha...and also think in terms of what will work well to tie in your business to the local area, because coffee houses are typically a very hip LOCAL affair.
Reply:The naming of your business could be one of the most important decisions you will make. A name%26#039;s originality and legal availability will create a real asset value of its own, as it becomes marketed and gains market acceptance.

The name you choose will become the focal point of all the benefits and features that relate to your business. Customers will be able to find and refer others to it in the future.

Since any names that are suggested here may already be owned by another party, I wanted to go a different route...

I suggest either hiring a name creation firm or get together with your friends and/or family and throw a %26quot;name party%26quot; %26amp; have everyone bounce some ideas around. Compile a listing of names that you like the best. Once you have that list, do as much free research as you can before you delve into comprehensive research.

I listed some links where you can do some preliminary name checking. However, please be aware that this is merely scratching the surface of what%26#039;s out there. Only comprehensive research will tell you if the name is truly available. But, these links are free %26amp; a great place to start, so I%26#039;d try them out first.

There are other sites that offer free searching capabilities in conjunction with their commercial services, so I%26#039;m not able to post those links due to the Yahoo! TOS. You%26#039;ll also want to check domain names %26amp; yellow pages, so simply do a search for %26quot;free domain name search%26quot; and %26quot;national yellowpages%26quot; and the appropriate links will pop up.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success %26amp; happiness in all your ventures!

What is a word that is whimsical?

Trying to name a floral and gift shop that also has a coffee bar with salads and soup, need aname that is fun and whimsical

What is a word that is whimsical?
breeze... pastel... twinkle...fluff... flowers gifts coffee and salads???

Reply:Any word with the letter %26#039;k%26#039; in it is whimsical and comic. The word becomes immediately funny and/or whimsical. Other words that are whimsical without a %26#039;k%26#039; include %26#039;serendipity%26#039; and %26#039;bellylicious%26#039; (which is the title of a popular bellydance music CD).

Create whimsical words BY COMBINING TWO DIFFERENT WORD PARTS that are familiar in meaning even though only part of each word is used to form a new third word. Example of whimsical words made in this fashion are %26quot;blackalicious%26quot;, %26quot;bellylicious%26quot; and %26quot;blacula%26quot; (the name of a popular vampire movie) combining the familiar parts of the words %26#039;belly%26#039; or %26#039;black%26#039; with the word, %26#039;delicious%26#039; or %26#039;dracula%26#039;. You can use words which signify or define whimsy also such as %26#039;serendipity%26#039; or %26#039;fairyrings%26#039; and other elfin garden expressions.

How do i improve my bussines, new marketing ideas?

I have a floral and gift shop, and lately has become slow in sales, what kind of marketing can i do to improve the sales?

How do i improve my bussines, new marketing ideas?
Once a month give away the flowers that are not suitable for arrangements anymore. While they still look fine, but you know they would wilt really fast.

Advertise the flower give away. Just get more bodies into the store.

Teach flower arranging classes.
Reply:For any small business to survive today, they have to realize that their best assets for growth is their existing customers.

Start with a marketing plan that first works to increase sales from these customers. Direct mail is usually the easiest way of doing this, except most times to do it effectively you may find it not to be cost effective. What I recommend to my clients is to start of small, create a monthly feature. Something special that is happening at your business. It could be as simple as a Floral Arrangement Class you are offering at no charge, then call them and invite them to it. The possibilities are truly endless and starting with your existing customers is the best place to start

Anyways, that is my two cents worth.

Good luck

Have a great day

What's a good name for a florist/gift shop?

I am planning on opening a upscale contemporary floral and gift shop in an affluent urban area. I want a name that will be memorable, and appeal to my demos, just not something that sounds too snotty.

Can I include a floral arrangement for the death of my boss as a gift on my IRS return?

I was wondering if thi gift had the 25 dollar restriction?

Can I include a floral arrangement for the death of my boss as a gift on my IRS return?
WOW

that%26#039;s compassionate. . . . . .
Reply:Wow, I thought I heard of everything, but dang, that is the wackiest stuff I have ever heard of. Man I am not even sure what to say. Do you charge your children rent to live in your home? Why do people think that they can claim anything on their taxes? Do you claim an energy credit every time you breath out because it warms the air?
Reply:No, you can%26#039;t deduct it as a gift of any sort. If you are self-employed, you could deduct it as a business expense.
Reply:wow. people judge the heck out of you here but i bet they claim all their children as dependents ( you could argue how unloving they are because they use their kids to lower their taxes.) i bet they deduct any donations they made to their churches (you could argue they only give god money so they can lower their own taxes...and look good to their priest)...

dont feel bad about what these people have said.

....look i have no idea what your relationship with your boss was like...but if the floral arrangement was an unrembursed employee expense then you can deduct it. if it was a gift of sorts, then no you cant deduct it.
Reply:thats called being a cheap skate. why bother doing it if you are looking for reimbursement, you might as well take the receipt to your Accounts Payable and have them pay u back....geez!

My lover is a gay florist. He loves flowers. I messed up last time. What's the perfect floral gift for him?

That easy, flowers made of chocolate like this! http://www.giftweblog.com/2006/10/23/cho...

My lover is a gay florist. He loves flowers. I messed up last time. What%26#039;s the perfect floral gift for him?
His favorite flower of course!!
Reply:He loves flowers but come one now, he works with them all day. I%26#039;d pick something else.
Reply:I think you should reconsider your idea of flowers to a florist; Take him to dinner, buy a shirt, gift certificate, but not flowers.
Reply:Perhaps an expensive or unusual vase? I%26#039;m sure he can get all the flowers he would ever want.
Reply:a puppy.
Reply:If your bf wasn%26#039;t a florist what kind of flowers would you buy him? Treat him the same as anyone else. Showing him you care is doing exactly that. However, maybe you should think of getting him something besides flowers. How about a nice weekend stay at a B %26amp; B or a nice spa treatment. Get more creative beyond just flowers.
Reply:If you had just flowery flowers in the one you messed up with, then try a rock garden or dish garden, they have both the flowers and greenery.

I dont believe you really messed up, he probably would love whatever you bring just for the thought.
Reply:A lovely bunch of Dandelions.............. (pee-in-the-beds).
Reply:make a daisy thong and wear it for him.

How should I know I am straight and married.
Reply:Give him something rare and GROWING... a potted plant...like a rare orchid or something that he doesn%26#039;t see in his line of work everyday...something that will last.
Reply:I agree with everyone who say to stay away from flowers, if he is a florist, he sees them all day, and could get them himself if he wanted them. How about a nice bouquet of cookies? or ballons? A teddy bear with a miniture bouquet of flowers?
Reply:If he%26#039;s a florist, there%26#039;s no perfect floral gift for him, no candy or chocolate bouquets, or balloon bouquets, or expensive vase (he deals with this on a daily basis). Give him a gift certificate for a massage, take him out to dinner, or take him shopping. Florists need a break every now and then from flowers.
